About

Dafydd Cotterell is a Lecturer in Operations Management at Swansea University’s School of Management. He is both a keen Academic Researcher and Higher Education (HE) Educator.

As a HE Educator, Dafydd holds Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) status. Dafydd teaches on a variety of modules across the School where he adopts a practical teaching style. He sees it important that students are equipped with the meaningful knowledge and skills that will allow them to be successful within their future careers. To this end, Dafydd incorporates a range of innovative teaching practices into his teaching, including the use of scenarios / simulations allowing students to gain insight into real management practices.

Dafydd is also an early career Researcher, with expertise in the field of Organisational Resilience. His current research includes evaluating the experience of retail SMEs during the Covid-19 crisis. Dafydd has won several awards during his time as a Researcher. This includes the prestigious James Callaghan Research Prize, a University wide award highlighting his PhD thesis as outstanding. Dafydd has also won a prestigious Best Paper in Track award at the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE) annual conference in 2021.

Dafydd is open to developing external collaborations for both research projects and industry partnerships.

Teaching Interests

Dafydd teaches at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. His teaching is mainly within the areas of business operations, strategy and data analytics.
